Based on blood samples collected at the crime scene, police forensic teams managed to get DNA hits with suspects caught in Ops Cantas in 2017. Two men were detained and subsequently charged. This is one of the many successes of Bukit Aman’s Forensic DNA Databank Malaysia (FDDM), which is targeting more sophisticated tools to solve crimes. Set up in 2012, it needs about RM11mil annually to operate at optimum level.
