THE CROWN Launches Lyric Video for "Scandinavian Satan"

OUTBURN ONLINE March 12, 2021 Royal Destroyer, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Royal Destroyer, a lyric video for “Scandinavian Satan” has been released today. Bassist Magnus Olsfelt comments: “‘Scandinavian Satan.’ The music inspired from the early days of extreme metal, first generation black metal, a raw kind of barbaric metal rock ‘n’ roll. Even though inspired by history and days gone by, this is not by any means ‘retro,’ but takes its aim firmly set on the future. The lyrics are taken from the Völuspa, at least 1000 years old, but maybe still valid today and even more in the future of days?

THE CROWN: Appetites for Destruction - OUTBURN ONLINE

OUTBURN ONLINE March 11, 2021 PHOTOGRAPHS BY IDA KUCERA “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll.” Wise words from AC/DC, but what about staying relevant? The Crown first returned to the international extreme metal scene back in 2010 after a six year hiatus and have released a relatively steady stream of solid albums since then. And their latest, Royal Destroyer, is something special a barn burning effort that echoes the Swedish band’s prior high points ( Eternal Death, Crowned in Terror), while simultaneously sounding fresh and…well, pissed. Who said you mellow out with age? The Crown guitarist Marko Tervonen spits in the eye of that idea and chatted with us to discuss the new album and what keeps The Crown’s creative flame burning.

Thrashing your day away with a speed metal frenzy

Within certain circles The Crown are an institution. Under their former name, Crown of Thorns, the band carved a formidable reputation for themselves within the speed metal genre. Now in their 31st year as a working band, and having changed their name to The Crown along the way, the band has just released one of the finest albums of their career and arguably one of the most impressive speed metal albums ever. Royal Destroyer bears all the hallmarks that helped the band forge its reputation in the first place. Make no mistake about it you won t be hearing much of this album on your average daytime radio because full of hit singles it definitely isn t but that s not what The Crown are about.
