A fellow of the Royal College of Chemists, Prof Ebenezer Farombi, has said poverty, underdevelopment and dependence in Nigeria cannot be addressed until the nation improves its research and technology capabilities and capacities.
Farombi stated this at the 43rd University Lecture of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, titled, ‘From Bench to Bedside and Beyond: Building Capacity in Translational Research’.
The professor of Biochemistry, Toxicology and Chemoprevention from the Department of Biochemistry also emphasised the need for Nigeria to become globally competitive and a producing nation, through scientific research that provides practical solutions to problems.
