ROXBURY, NJ A Roxbury Boy Scout thinks the township needs a better Christmas tree, and he’s raising money to make it happen.
As his Eagle Scout project, Tyler Benedetto is hoping to install at the Roxbury Recreation Center a 24-foot-tall Norway spruce and a decorative wall. The project will cost about $7,000, an amount that includes tools and supplies, according to the 15-year-old member of Boy Scout Troop 159 of Succasunna.
The new tree would replace the 12-foot-tall tree at the Eyland Avenue site. Benedetto said the 4-foot-high, double-sided wall he wants to build around the tree would serve as a seat and a place for taking holiday photos.
