ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Dr. Tony Watlington believes in reaching for the stars and believes the Rowan-Salisbury Schools are destined for greater things.
“I want every parent and community member to know that we are listening,” Dr. Watlington said. “We are listening in Rowan-Salisbury Schools. We need your feedback because the feedback will help us to develop a Strategic Plan to help us figure out how to create the best school district in the state.”
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district leaders said the district moved to full remote learning Thursday. The district places the safety of our students, staff and schools at the forefront and will take all precautions to keep everyone safe, district leaders said in a statement. In a statement to WCNC Charlotte, Iredell-Statesville Schools said it operated on a normal schedule Thursday and monitored the conditions to keep parents and students updated. Chapter three: Rowan-Salisbury Schools
WCNC Charlotte reached out to the Rowan-Salisbury Schools district for information on any possible changes to the Thursday schedule. At this point, WCNC has not heard back.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - The annual Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics is taking on a different feel this year due to the pandemic, but it can still be a great benefit to local athletes.
âWe are doing a plunge in place to raise money for our program,â said Edward Hailey, the new coordinator for Special Olympics in Rowan County. âDuring this week, videos will be uploaded to social media with individuals and teams doing their plunge in their own creative ways using #findyourfreeze. Rowan Salisbury Schools, especially the EC Department, and Salisbury Civitans have been the most active this season.â

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - The Board of Education for Rowan-Salisbury Schools voted on Monday night to move elementary school students to four day a week in-person learning at the end of March.
Specifically, the BOE voted to allow all K-5 students and 6-12 specialized needs Exceptional Children and English Learning students to return to in-person learning 4 days per week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) â A North Carolina accounting firm has come under fire from the state board that licenses certified public accountants for its practice of providing financial consulting and auditing services to the same clients.
The N.C. State Board of Certified Public Accountants entered into a partial consent order with Rives & Associatesâwhich is based in Lexington but has a large presence in Charlotteâin June over the conflict of interest.
