ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Cars lined up before 6:00 am on Wednesday for the 9:30 opening of the drive thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the West End Plaza in Salisbury. It’s the first vaccine clinic since last week.

More Counties Beginning New Vaccine Phase
(Henderson County, NC) More COVID-19 vaccines are being rolled out in western North Carolina this week. Haywood County health officials are beginning to register residents aged 75-and-older for appointments. Registration opened up for older residents in Henderson County as well, where more than 500 appointments were booked up yesterday. There s currently only one-thousand doses available in Henderson.
Buncombe County Man Charged With Murder
(Buncombe County, NC) A Buncombe County 74-year-old is in jail for murder. Ronald Haynes is accused of shooting his housemate to death on White Oak Gap Road yesterday. He was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Facility, and is being held without bond.

SALISBURY, N.C. Police in Salisbury have given the all-clear after two suspicious packages were dropped off at the Rowan County Health Department, Tuesday morning.
Police said the bomb squad has removed the packages and no incendiary devices were found. The contents of the packages were only personal items, clothing, and toiletries, police report.
Salisbury Police Chief Jerry Stokes said around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man with a history of substance abuse and mental illness entered the health department seeking assistance. Stokes said before he could articulate what he needed, he became anxious and ran from the building. He had a number of backpacks and luggage with him, and some of his
