Mike Flanagan wears the crown as the unofficial King of Netflix Horror. Though he doesn t appear to be heading back to the
Haunting world anytime soon, Flanagan revealed the cast list for his upcoming adaptation of Christopher Pike s
The Midnight Club, and it not only includes at least one
Nightmare on Elm Street s franchise, and many more.
To put it simply,
The Midnight Club centers on a group of terminally ill teenagers within the Rotterdam Home hospice. (No, it s not a multi-camera comedy.) The teens group together at midnight in order to tell scary and occasionally poignant stories, and they go on to promise each other that whoever ends up dying first is responsible for contacting the others from beyond the grave. z
The Midnight Club. As production on the series prepares to begin soon, Flanagan has taken to Twitter to confirm the cast for the series (which is not to be confused with his
OTHER upcoming horror tv series,
Midnight Mass) revealing that it includes the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street s Heather Langenkamp and some of his former collaborators from
Hill House! As we barrel toward the start of production on @intrepid s new @netflix series THE MIDNIGHT CLUB, based on the work of Christopher Pike, I m honored and thrilled to announce our cast, Flanagan tweeted. Portraying the titular club of terminally ill young adults is an amazing group of young actors. The Midnight Club is made up of Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard and Sauriyan Sapkota. And joining them. I m thrilled to welcome back some familiar faces as Zach Gilford, Samantha Sloyan, and Matt Biedel join the
After announcing the cast on Twitter, Flanagan added: “I’ve been dreaming of this project since I was a teenager, and I cannot wait to embark on yet another adventure with my [Intrepid Pictures] partner in crime (and television) Trevor Macy, as well as the fantastic crew we’ve been cultivating. More to come as we get closer to shooting.”
The book, written by Christopher Pike and published in 1994, is set in Rotterdam Home, a hospice for terminally ill teenagers where a group of patients begin to gather together at midnight to share scary stories. The group makes a pact that whichever of them dies first will contact the others from beyond the grave.
The Haunting of Hill House and
The Haunting of Bly Manor were both positively received by critics and audiences alike, it seems like the Netflix horror anthology series may not be returning any time soon.
Taking to Twitter, creator Mike Flanagan revealed that while there are currently no plans for the future of the series due to his busy schedule, that doesn’t mean a third season may not happen at some point in the future.
“At the moment there are no plans for more chapters,” Flanagan said. “Never say never, of course, but right now we are focused on a full slate of other [Intrepid Pictures] projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change we will absolutely let everyone know!”
Mike Flanagan has delivered two seasons for Netflix’s
Haunting Of series in Hill House and Bly Manor, and that’s all we’re getting for now at least. Flanagan, who created both
The Haunting Of Hill House and
The Haunting Of Bly Manor, took to Twitter to answer a fan question about the possibility of future installments in the anthology horror series.
Asked about a follow-up chapter, Flanagan wrote:
“At the moment there are no plans for more chapters. Never say never, of course, but right now we are focused on a full slate of other [Intrepid Pictures] projects for 2021 and beyond. If things change we will absolutely let everyone know!”
