The incident was attributed to infighting among members of the Rotela Clan after officials discovered an escape plot involving their leader, Armando Rotela
Jail officials also learned that a prisoner identified as Orlando Benítez, who in January 2020 was sentenced to 19 years, was part of the failed plot
