The upgrades meant the airport could cater to larger, Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 planes which weigh up to 220 tonnes fully-loaded. But Mr Ullman said the future of Code E aircraft travel at the facility was now in the hands of Sunshine Coast Airport, which had to upgrade a fuel main to enable refuelling of larger aircraft. The project itself, the contractor completed the fuel main installation, testing and the pressure testing and commissioning of that fuel main, even though it will now be mothballed, Mr Ullman told councillors on Thursday. A council spokesman said the costs associated with the clean-up were met from within the airport expansion project budget.
