Town’s U18s continued their excellent start to the season with a 3-0 win at Barnsley this afternoon which took them to the top of the league, Monty Patterson (pictured), Ross Meldrum and Ed Ellis netting the goals.
Leiston striker Darren Mills netted an early winner in a game of many more substitutions than genuine scoring opportunities. Mills, 26, pounced in the fourth minute to secure victory as Mark Kennedy’s Town U21 side opened their pre-season campaign with a defeat at Victory Road.
The sons of ex-Town players Richard Wright and Jason Dozzell will be following in their fathers’ footsteps when they join 10 other new scholars to kick off their own Portman Road careers in July.
