Industry Hoping For Voluntary Adoption of Safety Technology

Can a concerted outreach campaign convince more motor carriers to voluntarily embrace proven safety technologies, or will it take a potential regulatory mandate to drive adoption rates? Efforts by federal regulators to require such technology on new trucks are quietly progressing. In recent weeks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has said it is moving toward a proposed requirement for automatic emergency braking on heavy trucks as soon as next year.
