TWO Barrow florists have revelled in being there for the community throughout moments of happiness and sadness, but now they are looking to hand over the reigns to a budding flower enthusiast. Flowercraft owners Jean Johnson, 63, and Helen Leake, 62, have spent a combined time of over 50 years working at the popular Ainslie Street store, but have decided the time is right to put their business up for sale and enjoy retirement. Mrs Leake said: We have worked hard to get where we are today, we have got loyal clients that have been coming to us all of these years. We also have great staff who have been with us for years, and if there s a young florist who thinks its too much to take on - we re ready to go in a way, there s staff here who know everything.
5 holiday homes for sale in Cumbria (Photo: Pixabay/ Rightmove) Demand for domestic UK holidays this summer will exceed pre-pandemic levels, according to a new survey. The poll of 2,000 consumers by market research agency Mintel indicated that a total of £7.1 billion will be spent on so-called staycations between July and September. This is up from £5.8 billion in 2019. Although the value of the domestic holiday market across 2021 as a whole is expected to be 11% short of 2019 levels, Mintel expects it to fully recover next year. Mintel associate director Marloes De Vries said demand for domestic breaks could reach a 10-year high this summer due to huge pent-up demand after many 2020 trips could not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
