ROAR! Dinosaurs stomp into the NC State Fairgrounds

RALEIGH The dinosaurs have come to the NC State Fairgrounds. Dino Safari, which opened Thursday, allows guests in their cars to drive past 40 life-sized moving dinos ranging from wee ones not much bigger than a large house pet to the mighty T-Rex, king of the dinosaurs. The event runs through March 7. Tickets are $49.95 for regular-sized cars and $59.95 for vehicles that hold eight or more. Tickets are available at dinosafari.com. We went with our two children, Sam, who is 8, and Helen Ann, who will be 6 next month. We watched a video beforehand, where Professor Noteworthy explained we would be driving through Pangea, the large land mass that existed millions of years ago, and which scientists believe drifted into the continents we all know and love today.

We saw them at a FAPS event at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden in November. We played with them in a room of the Orangery at the garden. Samuel, who is now 8, and Helen Ann, 5, both took a liking to them. So did Sarah and I. But we only wanted one kitten. That’s what we told ourselves. A few days later, we went to FAPS off Bragg Boulevard to see what other kittens they had. But we wound up mainly playing with Google and Chrome again.
