In belated move, UK lends hand to Sudan’s transition

KHARTOUM – Britain’s top diplomat announced Thursday almost $55 million in aid to Sudan and around $455 millions to clear its arrears to the African Development Bank.

Britain s foreign secretary announced Thursday that his government would offer more than $50 million to help poor Sudanese families, Sudan s state news agency reported.
On a visit to Khartoum, Dominic Raab and Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Heba Mohamed Ali Ahmed signed a memorandum of understanding under which Britain commits to disbursing economic aid worth 40 million British pounds, or about $54.8 million, to the country, SUNA reported.
