Outbreaks at two Manitoban care homes are being declared over.
Public health officials advise six additional deaths in people with COVID-19 have been reported today including:
• a female in her 70s from the Prairie Mountain Health region;
• a male in his 80s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
• a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
• a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
• a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre; and

While there may be some tweaks to existing health orders when the current set expires on Jan. 8, do not expect a drastic change in them.
This was the message from Dr. Jazz Atwal, the acting deputy chief provincial public health officer during the province’s COVID-19 update on Thursday.

Despite a drop in cases and the rollout of a vaccine over the last couple of weeks, Atwal said there are many indicators they are looking at as they make their decisions.
