Fire Destroys Warehouse in Cottage Hills | Alton Daily News

WBGZ Radio 5/10/2021 | By Mark Ellebracht - WBGZ Radio A large fire destroyed a fencing company warehouse in Cottage Hills on Sunday.  Crews from seven area fire departments responded to Liberty Fence on Sunday afternoon, where a warehouse caught fire.  No injuries were reported, but firefighters were on the scene for several hours. The warehouse is located at the corner of Neunaber Street and West MacArthur Blvd, also known as Highway 140.  The fire broke out around 3pm Sunday with Cottage Hills, Rosewood Heights, Bethalto, Wood River, East Alton, Meadowbrook, and Fosterburg Fire Departments either on the scene or covering other firehouses.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Rosewood Heights: Helen Marie Stalcup, 90, beloved Mother, Aunt and Meme, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at her home in Rosewood Heights, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 13, 1930, in Blodgett, Missouri, the sixth of seven children, to Elmer and Irene (Bess) Moore. She and Richard Dick P. Stalcup were married on January 31, 1952, by Father Thomas Manning at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (OLQP) in Bethalto. They were married for 53 years before he preceded her in death on January 25, 2006. She graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School in 1948 and later began working at Owens-Illinois Glass Mfg. After her first child was born, she became a homemaker and frequent volunteer in her children s schools. Once her children were older, she was employed at Sav-Mart, The Valu Store, The Colonial Bread Thrift Store and, finally, by Lewis Bakeries until her retirement in 2000. 4/8/2021 4:46:10 AM Joseph Patrick Cobine, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 10:20 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. Joe was born on November 9, 1962 in Wood River. He was a son of the late James Robert and Dixie Jean (Major) Cobine. Joe was a college graduate with a bachelor’s degree. He taught in the school districts of New Berlin, Lebanon, and White Hall for many years having also coached basketball. Joe loved children and was privileged to work them throughout his teaching career. For the past several years Joe had been working as a Medical Dispatcher for Best Med in Granite City.
