Monmouth County man charged: Concrete poured into Newark drain

A Monmouth County man drove a load of concrete mix to Newark and dumped it down a storm drain on Thursday, according to Newark police. A member of Newark s Code Enforcement watched as John Clark, 32, of Highlands, pulled up in a truck and poured the unused concrete, topping off the drain in the area of Roseville Avenue and Orange Street, Newark police said. The truck was confiscated. Clarke was arrested and faces charges of illegal dumping and illegal transporting of solid waste. A first offense for dumping carries a mandatory fine of $2,500 for the first offense, increasing to $10,000 for subsequent offenses, mandatory loss of license, forfeiture of vehicle and mandatory community service for up to 90 days.

Driver allegedly crashed into parked cars and failed to stop

A MOTORIST allegedly crashed into parked cars and drove off without stopping. It happened at about 7.25pm yesterday (Sunday) in Harrogate. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police explained: A light metallic blue hatchback vehicle turned right off Roseville Road onto Roseville Avenue, and struck two parked cars, causing significant damage to one of them. It then drove off without stopping to exchange details, and was last seen heading towards Granby Road. The vehicle will have damage to its front nearside, the spokesperson added. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has recently been asked to carry out repair work on a vehicle matching the description, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference 12210049523.
