there is solidarity for ukraine with a country close to russia. kazakhstan allowed this demonstration in the largest city. about 2,000 people attended, shouting slogans like no war and waving ukrainian flags. there were even yellow and blue balloons on a statue of lenin. they stressed neutrality in the conflict, but there have been calls by some western lawmakers to extend sanctions to countries supporting russia. the israeli government is preparing for what could be mass immigration from ukraine. officials say more than 10,000 israeli citizens have now left ukraine, and israel is taking in jewish refugees. joining me now from jerusalem is cnn s hadas gold. good to see you, hadas. what is the latest on these jewish refugees arriving from ukraine and what does the future hold for them? rosemary, there is something

at least one person was seen bleeding profusely. kherson has been occupied by russian forces for about two weeks now. and phil black joins us now live from lviv. good to see you, phil. there is a sense of desperation on the part of russia s military right now bogged down in their faultering war on ukraine and that, of course, means more bombardments from afar targeting civilians. what is the latest on these attacks right across the country? reporter: rosemary, that s the announcement to ukrainian allies. they re firing from a distance, russian forces. more often indiscriminately. when they get close to ukrainian forces, it s a tough fight. you mentioned mf akariv, that s an example.
meeting set for later this week where u.s. president biden will also attend. how far might they go in helping ukraine, particularly with pressure coming from president zelenskyy for a no-fly zone over ukraine skies? reporter: well, that s really an open question still, rosemary. obviously the nato member countries have been supplying a lot of weapons to ukraine and even by threats that they could be a target for russian forces. we see clear unanimity that there will not be a no-fly zone over the skies despite what president zelenskyy has been calling for. they are considering sending more anti-air systems to ukraine so ukraine can try to close the skies. it is still contested and they have a chance to retake control if they do have those weapons.
people are walking by, going for coffee. but people here in ukraine they want to fight for their freedom, they want to fight for their country. and we will do that. and vladimir putin definite. yeah. i mean, we have to say the ukrainian people have been extraordinary with their pushback here. peter, ukraine has rejected russia s demand to surrender mariupol in the south. but president zelenskyy says he is ready for negotiations with putin to end this war. there are options for compromise already being discussed. but how delicate will this likely be for zelenskyy in terms of what he will and won t accept in any possible peace negotiation and what the ukrainian people will or won t accept? you hit the nail on the head with this question, rosemary.
