Oneida County s two election commissioners have announced they are stepping down after numerous issues were discovered during the court battle over the 22nd Congressional District race.
Republican Claudia Tenney narrowly beat incumbent Democrat Anthony Brindisi, but it took three months of litigation before results were certified. Tenney s victory was certified just in the past two weeks.

UTICA, N.Y. (WHCU) On the day after Claudia Tenney was certified the winner in the 22nd Congressional district, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente is calling for both commissioners of the county’s board of elections to be replaced.
Picente sent Governor Cuomo a letter Tuesday requesting Democratic commissioner Carolann Cardone and Republican commissioner Rose Marie Grimaldi be removed, alleging the commissioners failed to comply with state and federal election law.
State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte wagged his finger at the commissioners, saying they failed to cast as many as 11-hundred legitimate votes and rejected an unknown amount of voters who were turned away at polling places. Tenney was certified the winner Monday, 97 days after Election Day.
