Transport Minister Eamon Ryan appointed the former Ornua Chairman Aaron Forde in February but the appointment was withdrawn within hours after Forde was revealed to have tweeted controversial comments about travellers.

Limerick TD Richard O Donoghue says the government is missing an opportunity to redress regional imbalances by failing to divert traffic that it currently going to Dublin Airport to Shannon.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan has yet to replace Rose Hynes as chair of the Shannon Group after his appointment of Eamon Forde was withdrawn over controversial tweets.
Deputy O Donoghue says Minister Ryan needs to look at real options for dispersing traffic.
JUST after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon it seemed that the six month wait for a new chairperson of Shannon Group was about to end, with the announcement that agri businessman Aaron Forde would be appointed. However less than seven hours later there had been a sensational U turn, after details of tweets written by Mr Forde emerged.
On Tuesday evening the Department of Transport released a statement saying that Minister Eamon Ryan would not proceed with the appointment and that in a phone call to Mr Forde, the Minister had indicated to him that his “use of social media was below the standard expected of the chairperson of a State board”.
