Since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 each year. The date also marks Fashion Revolution Week, created to commemorate the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013, when more than 1,100 were killed in the collapse of a garment factory in Bangladesh.
Both dates are a way of reiterating the importance of sustainability for an industry that is notoriously bad: sustainability in terms of the materials and processes used to create our clothing, but also in terms of the people that make them.
