Cllr Rose Brookes was elected town mayor at an annual council meeting on May 19. Cllr Brookes, who is also a Loughton Residents Association district councillor, joined the town council in 2004, serving until 2012 before rejoining again as Roding ward councillor in 2016. Cllr Chris Pond said: “Rose was a long standing member of the council and understood the needs of the residents in Alderton, the Broadway and Roding wards. She will make a good Town Mayor with her caring approach” After her election, Rose said that she was thrilled to have been elected as the Mayor and felt honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve the community in this role and thanked her fellow councillors for their nomination.
