DCPO records over 21,000 quarantine violators

SunStar Photo by Macky Lim January 11, 2021 QUARANTINE violators in Davao City are now over 21,000 since the Covid-19 pandemic started, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reported. DCPO spokesperson Captain Rose Aguilar said based on their record from March 15, 2020 until January 10, 2021, a total of 21,423 violators were recorded with 6,253 cases already filed at the fiscal s office. Based on her breakdown, 5,877 were apprehended for violating the mandatory social distancing, 4,445 for mandatory use of food and medicine (FM) pass, 4,122 curfew violators, 2,448 individuals apprehended for failure of placing motorcycle barriers while traveling, 1,918 for those who were caught not wearing face masks in public areas, 1,883 for those with no face shield, 727 for liquor ban, and three individuals were caught for tampering their reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results.

On January 1, 2021, a video went viral showing some residents in corner Sarphil Village and Sitio Bulakan in Wilfredo Aquino throwing tin roof, mud, water and even human feces to vehicles and individuals passing by the area. Another video can be seen showing two female motorcycle riders being barred and their shirts ripped off by the residents. The video also showed the residents touching their private parts.

4 dogs poisoned

SunStar December 15, 2020 FOUR dogs were poisoned by security guards of the San Pedro Village in Buhangin, Davao City, on Monday, December 14, 2020. The incident was posted online on Monday morning and garnered almost 5,000 reactions with 17,000 shares as of Tuesday afternoon, December 15. Ivan, name withheld, told SunStar Davao in a phone interview on Tuesday that his relative uploaded online the pictures and videos of the dead dogs lying on the streets. He said the dogs were not strays as they were adopted by a resident living in a compound. His relative claimed that the head guard of the village was the alleged mastermind behind the incident. The security guard can be seen in a video interview that was uploaded together with the photos.
