About 30 protesters gathered at the museum to condemn the recent killings of Daunte Wright, Adam Toledo and Anthony Thompson Jr.
The Sunday protest a repeat of more than a dozen such protests last spring after George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer on Memorial Day was nearly derailed before it started. Museum security officials at first told organizers they needed to move off museum grounds. After several minutes and a few phone calls, the security officers said the protest could continue on the plaza.
Former Democratic Tennessee lawmaker Roscoe Dixon dies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Roscoe Dixon, a former Democratic state lawmaker in Tennessee who worked for civil rights groups and served in the Legislature for 25 years before becoming embroiled in the “Tennessee Waltz” corruption scandal, has died, a friend said. He was 71.
Ruby Wharton, a Memphis attorney and longtime friend, told The Associated Press that she was informed by Dixon’s sister that he died on Thursday. Wharton is the wife of former Memphis Mayor A C Wharton, who also was friends with Dixon.
Ruby Wharton said she met Dixon when she and her husband moved to Memphis in 1973. Dixon worked as a volunteer at the Memphis office of Operation PUSH, the civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. Former Tennessee lawmaker Roscoe Dixon has died. He was 71-years-old.
Javier Bailey and Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland both announced Dixon s passing Friday on social media.

Dixon served in the Tennessee Senate from 1994 to 2005. In 2010 he was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives, where he served until 2017.
