AT&T is shopping for a buyer for its online media unit Rooster Teeth
Rooster Teeth was part of Otter Media, an early foray into media by Dallas-based AT&T.
Shot in Austin, Rooster Teeth produced a feature film, Lazer Team, that was about four guys who accidentally found a special suit to battle aliens.
AT&T Inc. is seeking buyers for Rooster Teeth Productions LLC, a piece of its WarnerMedia division, as part of an ongoing winnowing of noncore assets by the telecommunications and media giant, according to people familiar with the matter.
The pandemic has complicated efforts to sell the business, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private. It’s unclear how much money AT&T is seeking for the business.

AT&T is reportedly looking to sell Rooster Teeth according to a new report. Back in 2018, AT&T acquired Otter Media that included the likes of Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, and more media companies. But in the years since, AT&T has notably been narrowing down this acquisition by selling off its various pieces to other companies such as the notable acquisition of Crunchyroll by Sony (which is currently hitting a roadblock due to reviews by the federal government). Now it seems that AT&T is looking to sell Rooster Teeth s media company next.
