Portales Heritage Days Celebration Rescheduled for July One of Eastern New Mexico s largest civic celebrations has been moved to mid-July. The 2021 Heritage Days celebration has been moved from June to July 16 & 17, 2021. The event will still be held at City Park in Portales and it is the 37th annual event. Friday s events start at 7pm (Mountain Time) and Saturday s events will start at 8am. “After having to completely cancel the event in 2020 we have been eager to bring the event back in 2021, said Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karl Terry. “Unfortunately, the public health order relating to the COVID-19 emergency, which was updated last week, will not allow us to have the event on the usual weekend, Our board felt strongly about just postponing, instead of canceling, since Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s administration believes the state will have sufficient vaccination rates by June 30 to support fully reopening the state.”
