Nothing about police accountability is going to be easy not even the easy things.
Syracuse’s new Right to Know law, aimed at protecting people’s privacy and constitutional rights when interacting with the police, went into effect in December.
Anyone who is stopped or questioned by police, but not arrested afterward, is entitled to receive a business card with the officer’s name on it. It’s a simple transaction that allows someone to make a specific complaint about police conduct and shields an officer from a false complaint. It also could build some trust between police and the people they serve.

Syracuse, N.Y. The Onondaga County Democratic Committee Wednesday named candidates who will run for each of the 17 seats on the county legislature this year as part of an effort to win control of the body from Republicans.
Republicans currently outnumber Democrats 11 to six on the legislature. And the GOP is targeting three seats in and around the city that are held by Democrats.
