lived. ronnie van zandt saying free bird in south carolina where we took off from for the last time. but two, you know, it is a sad occasion and a remembrance and not a celebration. but to kind of alleviate some of the sadness, we have a brand-new album that we are recording in nashville, tennessee, all classic. it is the ronnie van zandt tribute to his music and his band. and i m kind of lucky enough to be one of the band members. and we have dolly parton who will sing free bird rachel: amazing. steve: that day 45 years ago tomorrow, the plane goes down. there were 20 some people on board, six are killed. you had a couple of broken bones. she wound up going for help. i think i read that you knocked on a door, and a guy came out
and shot you? yeah. you know, i was covered with blood and i looked like charles manson. so, he was only protecting his family. but he winked at me and left shoulder. and it spun me around and i yelled, plane crash with what i thought was my last breath. i was going into severe shock. he took me in the farmhouse and i called my wife and told her we had had a crash. and that she would see it on television. so. being able to do the new album, which on my website, i have never touched a computer on my life. i m 74 years old, but i m still able to play drums like him 30. steve: that is great. we end with free bird which is a new album coming out to a tribute to ronnie. dolly parton singing free bird
