The SAPS has suspended Warrant Officer Ronnie Doko after he was arrested for the murder of three people in the Eastern Cape, during a land dispute.
The long standing dispute took a deadly turn after the Centane church started building a church hall on a piece of land which was previously borrowed to Doko by a local village headman.
The Police, Prisons and Civil Rights Union said the incident destroys the trust the union has worked so hard to build between the police and civilians.
The SAPS has suspended a Mthatha VIP Protection Unit member after he was arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for allegedly murdering three people including his church pastor over a land dispute last week.

An SAPS VIP Protection Unit policeman who went on a shooting rampage and killed three people over a land dispute, including a pastor and a local headman, appeared in the Centane Magistrates Court on Monday the Independent Police Investigative Unit (IPID) said in a statement.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) national spokesperson Ndikela Cola said that the SAPS member, Ronnie Doko, 55, was facing three charges of murder and one count of attempted murder after going on the shooting spree in Centane in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday 5 May 2021. Cola said Doko is a warrant officer who is stationed at the Mthatha VIP Protection Unit.
