A local councillor says it’s “staggering” that Meath continues to be the county with the lowest number of Gardaí per head of population.
New figures seen by the Social Democrats show the county’s ratio has improved from 2019 when it stood at over 611 people for every Garda.
However, Meath still has the highest number of residents per Garda nationwide at 585 to one.
Louth has the fifth lowest ratio at 330 people to every one Garda.
