After nearly 78 years as the Naval Training Station or the Naval Training Center, the Midway district property will now officially be called Liberty Station.
That name was announced yesterday at an invitation-only groundbreaking ceremony at the site. It emerged from a list of 447 names submitted by residents, congressional representatives, local government officials and others.
