A Southeast D.C. man has been arrested for two murders, one that occurred in 1996 and the other 22 years later in 2018, bringing both cold cases to a close.

WASHINGTON, DC Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested 42-year-old Rasheed Young of Southeast Wednesday in connection with two homicides, one in 1996 and the other in 2018, according to a police release.
In the first case, officers from the Fifth District responded around 8:56 p.m., on June 11, 1996 to the 300 block of Franklin Street, Northeast for the sound of gunshots. They found 26-year-old Cedric Rogers of Northeast suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Rogers to a nearby hospital but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
