A Plymouth man confessed to killing his 83-year-old father inside the latter’s Pennsylvania home in an attempt to save the senior from humiliation over losing money in a scam, authorities said.
Michael Miklaucic, 57, told police he was responsible for the death of his father, John Miklaucic, of New Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania, in a 911 call Tuesday morning, New Sewickley Police Chief Ronald Leindecker told reporters.
Police responded to John Miklaucic’s home at 657 Fezell Road and found his body inside the home, according to Leindecker, who said the cause of death was strangulation. Michael Miklaucic was taken into custody without incident on the front porch.

Michael Miklaucic is charged with criminal homicide after police said he confessed to killing his father, John Miklaucic, in the elder man’s New Sewickley Township home Tuesday morning.
Police Chief Ronald Leindecker said John Miklaucic recently lost a substantial amount of money in a Publishers Clearing House-like scam, and Michael Miklaucic had driven from Plymouth, Mass., to help his father repair the damage.
The scam was reported to police days earlier, but, around 8 a.m. Tuesday, police said Michael Miklaucic called 911 and told dispatchers he strangled his father. Officers arrested the man at a Fezell Road home and found his father dead inside.
