By Jeff K Jul 10, 2021 Born on this day in 1942, Ronald James Padavona (pka Ronnie James Dio or simply Dio), the American heavy metal singer-songwriter and composer, a one-time member of Black Sabbath, and founder of numerous groups including Elf, Heaven and Hell, and DIO, would have turned 79. Sadly, we lost Ronnie in 2010 after a year-long battle with stomach cancer, at the age of 67. With a career spanning more than 50 years, his music will live on.
