DES MOINES If ever there was a political bloc that could be counted on to hold a candle for Donald Trump, it would seem to be white evangelical Christians, who maintained a near-uniform front for the Republican throughout his presidency and beyond. Yet, as some 1,200 evangelicals gathered here for the Family Leadership Summit, widely seen as the first political event on the long road to the 2024 Republican primary, there was a feeling among some that it was time to move on.

Iowa s six presidential electors gathered at the Iowa Statehouse on Monday morning to cast their votes for Trump and Vice President Mike Pence after the Republican ticket carried Iowa on Nov. 3 with 53% of the vote. Electors met around the country Monday to award 306 electoral votes to Democrat Joe Biden and 232 to Trump, making Biden s victory official. A total of 270 electoral votes are needed to win the presidency.

Iowa s Six Electors Cast Their Votes For President Trump

December 14, 2020 Statewide Iowa Six Iowans have cast their votes in the Electoral College for President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Trump finished eight points ahead of Joe Biden in Iowa and carried all but six of Iowa’s 99 counties. Governor Kim Reynolds was on hand Monday morning to greet the Electors at the State Capitol. (As above) “Turn out for the General Election was incredibly high in the State of Iowa and I think that’s something we can all be very proud of,” she said.  Turnout in Iowa was over 76 percent for the November election. Secretary of State Paul Pate administered an oath to the six Electors and formally announced the outcome of the presidential election in Iowa.
