Gadsden will soon lose a landmark, but there s a plan to give the city a new green space in its place for now a park area that will enhance the area and benefit the community.
When Alabama Teachers Credit Union purchased the old Coca-Cola bottling building on Walnut Street, President/CEO Ron Summerall said the plan was to preserve a piece of Gadsden’s past.
The vision was to use a portion of the nearly 100-year-old facility for credit union operations, and to dedicate the remaining portions to helping potential new businesses prosper in Gadsden.
Alabama Teachers had hoped to work with experts toward developing a small business incubator program, or a co-work space, to help foster new business growth, Summerall said.
