MASSILLON – After several failed attempts asking voters to support construction of new elementary schools and lengthy discussions with the state, Massillion City School officials say they are on track to build two new pre-k to third-grade elementary schools.
The district won t be turning to taxpayers to foot the bill. It s an exciting time to be a Tiger, Superintendent Paul Salvino said as he discussed plans to address the district s aging elementary schools. This may be one of the most exciting times our district has ever been part of.
The Board of Education on Wednesday approved a resolution asking the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission to establish a basic project cost and local share in the classroom facilities assistance program, which helps districts finance improvements with state money.
