Steinmeyer has had some interesting ideas. He has talked about the fact that, you know, while the Atlantic Alliance may resonate for people of our generation, we have to think about how german youth snowden is much more popular among german youth i would submit than president obama today. I mean obama was a rock star in 2008. If there is a rock star in germany today, it is edward snowden. And that is a serious state of affairs, ladies and gentlemen. And it needs addressing. Stein meyer has proposed a kind after cybersecurity summit or conference or dialogue and i think more than ttip or these far off ideas we need something in the nearer term that really addresses these issues. Because young people in europe need reminding of what, of what the transatlantic the most successful at liance in human history. What it has achieved, what it means and why its important in light of what president putin has done today. Has done of late. There needs to be finally, i think, some real focus on just
Even better, the man has by doing so gained what we call street credit. Why is street cred important . Once you establish a reputation for the willingness and ability to use force and to be ruthless about it, you dont have to use force and conquer next time. You just establish a reputation as a nasty bastard and so people will, you dont have to wield power in order to have it. So he may stop here because he has now so much intimidated the ukraine that the ukraine will do his bidding. However, if he goes, if he goes farther, i dont think were going to do much about it either, because again, it is our periphery but his century. He is close. He is got the determination. He has got the street cred. How in the end will the game unfold . One, i dont think well use military force. Im pretty sure, to dislodge, to dislodge putin. To dislodge somebody is a hello of hell of a lot more dangerous than to slip in when nobody is looking. Too much risk. So both the u. S. And germany will use civilian
I would say yes to that. Perfectly done. Has anyone else been more aware of the clothing theyre wearing on Live Television. For help in this conversation with thanks to the rev, lets bring in kasie hunt. Im guessing that the deeper meaning and impact of bidens speech made its way to you on the lawn. As i am also guessing Amanda Gormans presence at the age of 22 made its way to you as we watched the obamas leave just behind where you are. Reporter it really did. Let me first say to pick up on the previous conversation, i would need two marines to help me walk around like that. I think its joy to walk around like that. In all seriousness though, being out here and getting a chance to listen to this, what really struck me is that after four years of having a president who made everything about lims and everything about his own political future, that this speech that we heard from joe biden it was not campaign speech. It was not a politics first speech. It was an american speech. It was a
Go ahead, quick. I was going say its easier to be ignorant and reliant than it is to be responsible and informed. How do you change that . Well, one of the things we are going to have to do, and i dont have a lot of time to get into it, but we have to use technology. Theres some wonderful ways we can use that. Virtual classrooms, it can help us enormously. Im working on that project with something in baltimore right now. Of your scholarship fund. Carsons scholars. Org. Everyone get involved. Neil. He was one of our most esteemed members, passed away unexpectedly this summer. You were at the memorial service. I was at the Funeral Service in cincinnati. I missed the memorial service. Tell us what that was like at that service and what was Neil Armstrong like as a man and as an astronaut . The Funeral Service was in cincinnati, outside under a covered tent. Mostly family and astronauts and close family were there. We got to see a lot of the apollo era astronauts. Bob jacobs, the pr that represented nasa. It was more of a member is of neil from his sons and a couple close friends. The eulogies were mostly about his humility. That is what i remember most about neil. One of the most humble guys i ever met, most selfeffacing, never bragged. Never thought about looked at me, i am first on the moon. And it probably the most talented guy i knew as far as pilot skills go. You were if prior you were a Fighter Pilot. Right, and so was he, in korea. Then he got out of the navy. So he wa
