Police in hong kong have moved in on people staging a sitin to demand greater democracy. Officers arrested more than 500 demonstrators. The previous day tens of thousands of people marched through the territory. Crowds filled the streets on the 17th anniversary of hong kongs reversion to china. They called on authorities in beijing to respect hong kongs autonomy. The organizer said the rally drew 510,000 people, an unprecedented number. The police say by their count, nearly 100,000 people showed up. More than 1,000 demonstrators, many of them young people, continued their protest after the main march ended.
