On Feb. 3, the MDEQ formally received a letter from NCL Waste, LLC requesting that the permit applications for the NCL Landfill project be withdrawn. The letter states the company s intent to abandon the project to pursue other opportunities. However, on Feb. 4 MDEQ officials say they received a second letter from Phoenix Waste, LLC, which reportedly owns 50 percent of NCL Waste, requesting the applications be maintained intact and not withdrawn.
