watching a cluster of storms making their way through baltimore county and packing lightning. looking at the reports on twitter, it s bringing low visibility around areas of i-95 into areas of harford and two more lines back to the west. one that s scattered right now around i-81 and a stronger line that will move eastward. it s the stronger line i m worried about that could bring heavy rain to our area between 9:00 and 11:00 p.m. this evening stepping into areas like montgomery and d.c., localized flooding and we could see more poor visibility too with the flooding taking place, we ll have more coming up. the federal government wants to know why people couldn t get through to 911 after last month s derecho. they opened an inquiry to investigate the outages. the 911 systems are run by verizon that says they lost power during the storm. several backups also failed. some towns lost their 911 systems for 48 hours. the review is part of a broad investigation of service provider

county. and with that, the montgomery county council began laying into pepco and questioning the utilities response to the 238,000 outages after june 29th s storm. the frequency and duration of power outages threatens our help and well fare and economy. tom graham and the maryland public service commission s chair, attended the hearing and responded to concerns. i completely understand the frustration of the customers who have been out of service. what i m hearing from mr. graham, which makes me infuriated is that he s not listening to what everyone is telling him. emily of north bethesda lost power for days after the last storm. that s why she and many other concerned residents attended today s hearing. she said the leadership and president don t get it. he said yes it was a big storm, shouldn t be beating up on us, you can expect outages. everybody understands that. what happens next depends on what we find. the maryland public service commission s chair s
