WOOD COUNTY, Ohio Helping people schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment is not normally something law enforcement does, but that s not the case in Lake Township.
Officer Ron Craig, the department s community policing officer, is glad to lend a helping hand.
According to Craig, the township s senior residents weren t having much luck booking their appointment. He acknowledged many of them don t have access to computers, an email address, or know how to properly use the internet.
About a week and a half ago, he created a spreadsheet and started taking down the residents name, address, date of birth and age. He makes multiple calls and checks websites up to five times a day to schedule their appointment for them.

Assistance is available to Lake Township residents who have been having difficulty in setting appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Police Chief Mark Hummer said his department’s community policing officer has been in contact with the Wood County Health Department after several township residents, particularly Neighborhood Watch members, voiced concerns to that officer regarding difficulties in setting such appointments.
“Residents have told us they were able to get registered for the vaccine online but have not been able to successfully schedule the shots,” Chief Hummer noted. “We have learned there are appointments available next week and we have been given information regarding the best way to make contact for those appointments.”

With images of “auld acquaintances” distracting my thoughts, I decided to just give into the reflections and revisit some memories of theatrical triumphs, and people whose courage made the feats appear far less difficult than they were.
