ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Coborn’s, Inc. has announced plan to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary this year.
Since its humble beginnings in 1921, Coborn’s, Inc. has been a leader in the grocery industry, growing from a one-room produce market in Sauk Rapids, MN to expansion of a regional employee-owned grocery retailer employing 9,400 employees and 59 grocery stores. The company operates more than 120 various retail and business support units across Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
In 1921 Chester R. Coborn opened the Sauk Rapids, MN flagship store and during its first two decades, the grocer expanded in size and selection, changes that were driven by economic necessity and his commitment to innovation. ‘Deals of the Century’ to lead off yearlong celebration campaign
Regional grocer Coborn’s turns 100 in 2021 and plans to celebrate the milestone with special events and promotions throughout the year.
St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s said yesterday it plans to kick off its 100th anniversary campaign on April 11, starting with “Deals of the Century” in-store savings. Also planned are special appreciation events, employee activities, a recipe exchange, and a special commemorative website with content highlighting the history of Coborn’s including a timeline since its founding in 1921.
Currently, Coborn’s has nearly 9,500 employees and 59 supermarkets stores across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Marketplace Foods and Hornbacher’s banners. The company’s retail network also includes stand-alone convenience stores, liquor stores and pharmacies, for a total of about 130 outlets. Coborn’s operates
