CLEMSON, S.C. Samantha Buyckx and Ali DeSpain have improved their doubles ranking to No. 42 in the nation. The significant leap from their previous position at No. 70 comes as a result of the pair's victory over No. 11 Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh of Virginia on Friday. The doubles pairing recently gave the No. 8 pair in the nation a battle in Chapel Hill, the match was abandoned with Clemson leading 5-4. Including their victory on Court 1 in Wednesday's ACC first round match, the pair are 14-7 this year and 11-4 on the spring season. Sophomore Cristina Mayorova also improved her singles ranking to No. 99 from No. 106. Playing primarily from the No. 1 singles position in a loaded ACC, Mayorova has consistently proven herself a fierce competitor and one deserving of national recognition. ROME, Ga. - Clemson (11-13, 2-10 ACC) impressed in the first round of ACC Championships on Wednesday morning, sweeping Boston College(5-16, 0-12), 4-0. The win saw Clemson advance to the second round of the ACC Tournament for the first time since ? (third time in four years) do you know? The Tigers came out firing in doubles, as Ryuhei Azuma and Spencer Whitaker took Court 1 over the No. 90 ranked pair in the nation convincingly, 6-2. Teodor Guisca and Max Smith clinched the point on Court 2 with a 6-4 win. Guisca’s tremendous day continued in singles play with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 2 Then, within seconds of each other, Whitaker and Trey Stinchcomb clinched their matches to clinch the victory for the 12th seeded Tigers. Whitaker took Court 3 7-6, 6-1 while Stinchcomb put his opponent away 6-4, 6-4 on Court 6. CLEMSON, S.C. - The Clemson men’s tennis team is headed to the ACC tournament as a No. 12 seed, as announced by the ACC on Sunday night. The Tigers will play Boston College in the first round at Rome Tennis Center on Wednesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. With a win against the Eagles, the Tigers will face the No. 5 seed Duke on Thursday, April 21 at 10 a.m. Championship ticket passes are $25. One-day entry passes are $10 for adults and $7 for children (age 9-17) and non-ACC college students. Children (8 and under) and ACC college students (with valid ID) are admitted free of charge.
