Quinsippi Island Now Has a New Look

Quinsippi Island Now Has a New Look One of the benefits of living on the Mississippi River is the wonderful view of the landscape including the river itself. Well, the view of that landscape has changed over the past weekend. In an effort to open up the view of the river even more, the southern tip of Quinsippi Island underwent a transformation Saturday when crews began cutting down trees in the area basically from the lighthouse to the southern edge of the island. The trees were felled to provide a better view of the river to the north. According to the Executive Director of the Quincy Park District, Rome Frericks, the Quincy Boat Club, with approval from the Quincy Park District and the Army Corps of Engineers, took on this project so as to provide an even better view of the Mississippi River for people in Clat Adams Park, the businesses on the riverfront as well as the Boat Club itself.
