Vor gut zwei Jahren fiel die letzte Bastion der Terrororganisation Islamischer Staat in Syrien. Aber auch heute sind die Dschihadisten dort noch aktiv. Und nicht nur dort. Berlin (dpa) - Außenminister Heiko Maas nimmt heute in Rom an einem Treffen der internationalen Koalition gegen die Terrormiliz Islamischer Staat (IS) teil.
Dabei soll es um den Kampf gegen die Terroristen in ihren ursprünglichen Operationsgebieten Syrien und Irak, aber auch um die zunehmenden Aktivitäten in Afrika oder Afghanistan gehen. «Der IS in Irak und Syrien ist zurückgedrängt, aber nicht geschlagen, in anderen Regionen gewinnt er sogar an Einfluss», sagte Maas. «In Rom werden wir deutlich machen: Wir lassen den Terroristen keinen Fußbreit, auch nicht in Afrika.»
