Access Chautauqua Programming for January 23-29: The Turner Winter Series on Access Chautauqua features Rolland Kidder speaking about the World War II Memorial at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Chautauqua Sunrise, hosted by Doc Hamels, will have state Assemblyman Andrew Goodell, R-Jamestown. The program is aired and streamed on Facebook live at 9 a.m. Saturday, then repeats at 2 and 8 p.m. Repeat programming is typically re-aired throughout the week at other various time slots. All programming starts on today with the final airing on Friday, Jan. 29. Access Chautauqua, formerly Access Channel 5, is available to cable viewers in the Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, and Westfield areas, and can be found on cable channel 1301.

ROLLAND KIDDER I have been around this country now for many decades. Yet, I have never witnessed a sadder day in our history than this past Wednesday when a mob took control of the United States Capitol building. It was made especially sad because it was incited and supported by the President of the United States. I had turned on the TV early in the afternoon to watch the democratic process of the certification of the Electoral College vote a traditional event held every four years, usually not controversial, but made so this year because the President had challenged its validity.
