Formula E - Lotterer fastest as Porsche top FP3

Formula E Valencia, Spain Valencia E-Prix 2 – Andre Lotterer led a Tag Heuer Porsche 1-2 in the only free practice session of the second Spanish round. After overnight rain the day’s first track action took place on a wet, but slowly drying track. Setting their fast laps at the very end of the session, Porsche saw Pascal Wehrlein briefly top the timesheets before his teammate put in a 1:35.269. That was enough to put Lotterer just over three hundredths ahead of Wehrlein. Sam Bird was 0.404 off the quickest lap but, after Jaguar struggled in every session yesterday, will be hoping that the team have managed to fix some of the issues and give themselves a fighting chance today.

Formula E - Guenther tops very close Valencia practice

Formula E Valencia, Spain Valencia E-Prix 1 – Maximilian Guenther went fastest in the morning’s practice sessions for the first ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race in Valencia. Guenther, who has been the fastest driver in testing in Valencia for the past two years, once again topped the times at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo with an early quick lap which put him as the first under 1 minute 27 seconds, with a 1:26.958, and was good enough to hold off the rest of the grid. It was a very competitive session, with twenty-two of the drivers setting times within eight tenths of each other, which means absolutely everything will count in qualifying later.

Formula E - Debut pole for Cassidy in Rome

Formula E Rome, Italy Rome E-Prix 2 – Nick Cassidy took his first Formula E pole position for Envision Virgin Racing as he mastered the tricky conditions in Rome. Heading out in the final qualifying group, Cassidy had the best of the conditions and he was one of three drivers who progressed from that group to Super Pole. The Kiwi’s 1:56.006 was just out of reach from ROKiT Venturi’s Norman Nato, who had topped group qualifying, as the Frenchman had the fastest sector 2 but tapped a wall and lost time in the final sector. Aside from both rookies getting to start from the front row, they both now have their first points of the season thanks to the points for being fastest in group qualifying and pole.

Formula E - Loose kerbing ends FP2 after 10 minutes track time

Formula E Rome, Italy Rome E-Prix – Maximilian Guenther topped a very brief FP2 session but it’s Lucas di Grassi’s FP1 time which is fastest so far. Rome’s second practice session was brought to a halt after just 10 minutes some kerbing came loose at the chicane. Initially it was estimated the repair would take twenty minutes so Scott Elkins, the Race Director, said that the session could be extended past it’s scheduled 9:45 finish time however repairs ended up taking longer than expected. At 10:05 it was announced that the session would not restart and the kerb would be replaced with a wall instead.
