Abdur Rahim Quasemi, a member of the group’s recently dissolved central committee and joint general secretary of its Brahmanbaria District Unit, was detained from Brahmanbaria town’s Bhadughar area on Tuesday afternoon.
Rois Uddin, an additional superintendent of police, said investigation revealed Rahim Quasemi’s involvement with the recent mayhem and violence in 2016 in the district.

A local journalist was tied to a tree and beaten up when he went to cover a report on sand and stone lifted illegally from the bank of Jadukata river in Sunamganj s Tahirpur this afternoon.
Kamal Hossain is the upazila correspondent of national daily Sangbad and organising secretary of the upazila press club.
He is undergoing treatment at Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex, our Sylhet correspondent reports.
Quoting Kamal, local journalist Abir Hasan Manik said that a group of men who were lifting sand and stones, beat him and tied him to a tree in a bazar at Ghagotia village.

Police recovered the body of a teenage boy from a pond near his house in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj this morning.
The deceased Md Hasan Mia, 17, son of Md Shamim Hosen, was missing from December 21 of last year, claimed his family members.
There are injury marks on several parts of the body, reports our local correspondent quoting Md Rois Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station.
Hasan s family members claim that they looked for him in several places during the last 18 days after he went missing from his room, said the OC.
