UC Berkeley freshman Divit Chopra is running independently for ASUC Executive Vice President to counter the dominance of political parties within the institution.
The results fpr the 2023 ASUC Senate elections were announced at 6 p.m. Friday during a tabulation ceremony held in Dwinelle Hall. With remarkable turnout, 46 candidates competed for the 20 available senate seats, posing a significant challenge to all contenders. Of these, an overwhelming 32 ran as independents, while 10 ran with ElevateCal and four ran with the Progressives at Cal party.
Alexander Sanborn-Walker is running for ASUC Senate with Progressives at Cal on platforms of transfer student needs and protection of student services.
Lauren Adams, a sophomore majoring in English and minoring in education, is running with Progressives at Cal for ASUC Senate on the platforms of improved campus budget allocation, more ethical Greek life and support for disabled and native students.
